The X-Files was
created by Chris Carter and is shown on the Fox Network in the USA and
Channel 10 in Australia. The series began in 1993 and was proclaimed by
TV Guide as the following - "Like the best of the true-crime series, these
tales are told with an absolutely straight face and told well. If you can
overlook a credibility gap the size of the Milky Way - and many viewers
will overlook it - the show is actually well done. Whether you believe
these stories or not, they're first rate entertainment." It was a hit with
critics but it took a bit longer for audiences to warm to the show. But
after its first season, it was rating very high in the US.
The series follows the exploits of two FBI agents - Special Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully - into the paranormal. Mulder the believer and Scully the skeptic.
Many plot threads have been explored including the series major plot of a government conspiracy concerning the existance of Extra Terrestrial Life.
Recently, it's first feature film expaned the plot line further which answered a few questions and posed many more. It also introduced the head man behind the Syndicate conspiracy and a few new characters who will be appearing in the new season.
